Happy Mother's Day from Mama Spark's World

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, adoptive mothers, dads that are mothers, heck any and all that identify as a mother.  I was sitting out on my porch yesterday and a van drove up and a man walked up my driveway with a huge bouquet of flowers!  They were from my three children and my grandson.I hope you all have a relaxing, blessed day.~XOP~

A Quiet Christmas from Needle and Foot

Happy Holidays everyone! For those who celebrate Christmas, I hope the day was lovely. I think this is probably the smallest gathering we have had for Christmas but you know what? It was great. Julia, Ray and I were together and we enjoyed it very much.

Knowing it was supposed to snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we invited my parents over for cookies and coffee on the 23rd. Mom and Dad live at a higher elevation than us and thus get quite a bit of snow. Once it snows, their part of the highway is often impassable. They ...

When In New England... from From the Strawberry Patch...

We made a trip up to New England to visit with family and spend Mother's Day with my mother. As of this morning we're home again and the washing machine is working overtime. Our visit north was blessed by the weather gods; lovel, sunny (albeit chilly) days and crisp, cool nights. It was glorious! My sister and her husband met up with a lobster fisherman on Saturday afternoon and brought back TEN(

fun days . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Not a lot going on in the Nook these past two weeks.  We've got Campers on Mission in the camp for their annual work.  This year they've been working on a new bathhouse for the camp.  It's so exciting watching it come together . . .
Isn't that great?!  They've worked so hard for these last two weeks.  I am so excited for the benefit this adds to the camp! ♥  Speaking of the camp, one of the COM wives knew I sewed/quilted, and look what she made me:
Awesome, right?  That was so kind of her to ...

Mother's Day Surprise and More! from The Modern Diary

The days are warming up and we were able to take Hazel outside for a bit one afternoon.  She loves looking at my quilts and she was pretty happy staying on the quilt for several minutes just checking it out.  She gets all around now with a pull crawl kind of movement and sometimes with a knee/foot combo so far.  She rolls all over and spins too.  Such a personality even so young.  I love this little one!
For Mother's Day we went all out and made more butterfly feet.  One for me, my mom, Jeremy's mom ...

MOTHER'S KITCHEN from Q-BITS

My cherry tree has been blooming gloriously all week, it's almost Mother's Day; plus it is throwback Thursday and time for a quilt I made in 2004 entitled "Mother's Kitchen".

I made it as a tribute to my Mother, who always worked outside the home beginning when I started to school.  Her kitchen was always cheerfully decorated, and we always spent time together there when she got home from work -- she preparing supper or folding laundry and I was talkative.  Plus, the cherries -- she always made a maraschino cherry and nut cake for my birthday!

You would ...

MAY 2020 from Nestlings By Robin

MAY 2020
This month deserves EVERY
bit of bold, larger, underlined
text available to me!!
We started the month by going
to Virginia to help my mom
with some things around
the house and to spend
Mother's Day with her.

We did tons of yard work
and I got covered in ticks-YUCK!!!!
Once home, one of the bites
wasn't reacting right so I was
tested / treated for Lyme disease.
My test came back negative but
to this day (2 months later) that
one bite isn't right.
Be careful out there!

Unfortunately, this would
be the last trip ...

Weekly update: masks, houses, and how it turned out from With Strings Attached

Tulips, 6 a.m.

Tulips, 11 a.m.
What a variety of weather we've had!  Two warm days (first lawn-mowing of the season) followed by near-record chill with a touch of frost Saturday morning.  The parking lot and trails at the Camp Logan unit of Illinois Beach State Park were still flooded from the April 29 rain (3.37") but Saturday afternoon we tried Hosah Park (the one patch of lakefront that belongs to Zion Park District).  But where's the beach? Somewhere near Indiana by now.  Last summer there was sand at the end of the boardwalk and ...

Yumminess from From the Strawberry Patch...

I had an entire blog post composed and it evaporated. I'm beyond frustrated with that and have decided to spend the rest of Mother's Day afternoon finishing the current book that I'm reading; I'll recreate the post about my kitchen adventures of this past week at a later time. Our son and his family came by today with this box of warm-out-of-the-oven Duck Donuts for a special Mother's Day treat!

Where's the tattoo? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Happy Mother's Day everyone! Most of us won't get to see our mothers today, but I haven't seen my mom on Mother's Day for years! But I always call and I'll be calling later today.

As I've been tidying up, I came across this Mother's Day present from M and got a good chuckle out of it.

This was a note tucked inside a CD case. The CD is missing, but apparently, it had a playlist for ME. I wonder what songs she picked? I'm sure I'll find the CD somewhere ...

Mother's Day Thread Special from Sew Karen-ly Created...

We are just about to turn another calendar page into May, where we mark one of our favourite special days: Mother's Day. This year instead of taking our Mom out to dinner, or bringing the kids for a visit, we will fete her long distance.
Mother's Day to me is a day associated with "girly" treats - flowers, chocolates, lacy pretty things.  To that end, we will be offering special packaging and gift-wrap for all Mother's Day Aurifil thread orders. You choose the colours and weights of thread Mom loves, and we will do it up pretty (and ...

DIY Mother’s Day Gifts from Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber

Give your mom or mother figure the perfect gift that says “I love you,” with something handmade. Mother’s Day is coming up in May, so we’ve scoured the internet and gathered up some of our favorite projects you can sew. Most of these them have free blog or video tutorials provided by the designers, and that’s always appreciated! There are DIY Mother’s Day gifts for moms who sew, handmade gifts for moms who garden and gifts to sew for those who – like most of us – like to have a smartphone or tablet close at hand.

Mother ...
